Welcome to Swan Academy: Our Commitment to Health, Safety and Wellbeing

At Swan Academy, the well-being of children with respect to their health, safety, and happiness is the top  priority. We believe that the children can only learn if the environment is safe, supportive, loving, and caring. The blog's goal is to widen the vision of the families regarding the health and safety activities, which are not only of the most importance to us but also performed daily, besides the ways these practices have contributed to a healthy, safe, and confident atmosphere for their child (The Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority, 2022).

Children are always in a rapid growth phase. They are always curious, enthusiastic and have lots of questions in their mind. They have the power of imagination, creativity and curiosity. The children with every movement are constantly seeking answers., For example, How to take care of their bodies? How to be safe? How to communicate with others and even nature? Furthermore, it is true that they are dependent on adults when it comes to all the above including hygiene, food safety, sleep routines, supervision, or protection from harm (Department of Education, 2022).

Good health and safety practices in early childhood centre help in

1.  Prevention of  spread of infection and diseases (Australian Government Department of Health, 2025)

2.  Reduction of   chances of accidents (NSW Government, 2020)

3.  The physical, social, and emotional development of children (Department of Education, 2022)

4.  Strengthening  relationship among the parents, children and teachers (The Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority, 2022)

5.  Creation of  a safe and healthy environment for children (National Quality Standard, 2017)

6.  trust and confidence building in children (The Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority, 2022)

In our centre, even the smallest things, like the educator teaching the children  to wash their hands or the educator inspecting the playground before the children go outside are never missed out. These practices are guided by the National Quality Framework (NQF), the Education and Care Services National Regulations, and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) Outcome 3. This states that children have a strong sense of wellbeing (Department of Education, 2022). Our centre focuses on simple, clear but important practices that the children can easily understand and actively participate.
